FOUNDER’S PERSPECTIVE
From Phone Calls to Real Data
By the Founders of myTabler · March 2026
Your restaurant is fully booked on paper. Friday night, eight tables reserved. By 8pm, three of those tables are empty. The guests who said they were coming never showed up. The guests who walked in hoping for a table were turned away an hour ago.
You lost revenue twice. Once from the no-shows, once from the walk-ins you could not seat. And tomorrow morning, you will have no data to tell you how often this happens, which time slots are worst, or how much money it has cost you this quarter.
This is the reality of running a restaurant in Accra without a booking system. Not because the food is not good. Not because the demand is not there. But because the infrastructure between a guest deciding to eat at your restaurant and actually sitting down at the table does not exist.
There is no published data on restaurant no-show rates in Accra. No study, no industry report, no benchmark. Globally, the figure sits between 5% and 20% depending on the market. But in a city where most restaurants do not use a booking system at all, nobody is counting. That is not a gap in the research, it is the entire problem. You cannot fix what you have never measured.
WHAT A PHONE CALL CANNOT DO
A phone call works when your restaurant has ten tables and you know every regular by name. It stops working when you are trying to manage a Friday night with thirty covers, a private dining room, a waiting list, and a kitchen that needs to prep based on how many people are actually coming.
A phone call is a conversation. It is not a booking system.
A conversation has no structure. It does not generate a confirmation the guest can reference. It does not trigger a reminder notification. And it does not produce a single data point you can use to run your business better next month. Think about what you lose every week when your bookings live in a notebook or a WhatsApp thread instead of a system.

No reminders, no confirmation trail. Guests cancel in their heads without telling you.

HOW DINING WORKS ON MYTABLER
The dining flow was designed to be as frictionless as possible, for the guest and for the venue. No floor plans, no approval workflows, no complexity that does not belong in a restaurant booking.
01
Guest Browses
Open myTabler, tap Dining, and browse restaurant partners by category, cuisine type, location, rating, price range. Each card shows available time slots at a glance.
02
Select Date, Time, Party Size
The guest picks their preferred slot and adjusts for party size. If the restaurant offers space options, indoor, outdoor, bar seating, those appear here too.
03
Instant Confirmation
No approval required. The booking auto-confirms immediately. The guest receives a confirmation with a reference code via SMS and email. No waiting, no callbacks, no ambiguity.
04
Arrival and Check-In
Guest arrives and gives their name or reference code. Staff searches via the operations panel, name, phone, booking ID, and marks arrived with a single tap. Table status updates in real time.
05
Post-Visit Feedback
Two to eighteen hours after the visit, the guest receives a feedback request. Three questions, star ratings, optional text. Linked to the venue, the booking, and the visit date. Data the restaurant can actually use.
The entire flow takes under ninety seconds for a guest. No phone call, no waiting on hold, no back-and-forth about availability. And for the restaurant, every booking is a structured record, not a line in a notebook.
FEEDBACK THAT ACTUALLY WORKS
Most restaurants in Accra have no structured feedback mechanism. A guest has a mediocre experience, says nothing, and never comes back. The restaurant never knows why. The ones who do leave feedback tend to do it on Google Reviews, public, permanent, and often more about venting than improving.
myTabler sends a private, lightweight feedback request directly to the guest after their visit. Three questions, star ratings using the Ghana black star icon, and an optional text field. The feedback is linked to the specific venue, booking, and visit date, so the restaurant sees exactly which night, which service, and which time slot generated the response.
This is not a public review. It is an operational signal. A restaurant that sees consistently low ratings on Friday nights between 7pm and 8pm knows they have a service bottleneck during peak arrival. That is actionable data. A Google review that says “food was mid” is not.
DISCOVERY IS THE MISSING PIECE
There is one more problem that no phone call can solve: how does a new guest find you?
Right now, restaurant discovery in Accra happens through Instagram, word of mouth, and Google Maps. All of those channels are noisy, unstructured, and disconnected from the booking moment. A guest sees your restaurant on Instagram, likes the photo, then has to find your phone number, call during business hours, and hope someone picks up. By the time they go through all of that, they have already moved on.
myTabler’s marketplace puts your restaurant in front of guests at the moment they are deciding where to eat. They are already in the app, already browsing, already looking for a table tonight. Your restaurant appears as a card with your imagery, cuisine type, price range, rating, and available time slots. The distance between discovery and booking is one tap.

For restaurants that have never had a booking platform, the marketplace is the single biggest unlock. It is not just about managing the guests you already have, it is about reaching the ones who do not know you exist yet.
INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE KITCHEN TOO
There is a downstream benefit to structured bookings that most restaurant operators do not think about until they experience it: kitchen prep.
When you know how many covers are confirmed for tonight, not guessed, not estimated, but confirmed with reference codes, your kitchen can prep accordingly. Less waste, better portion control, tighter inventory management. The revenue ledger tracks what was booked, what was served, and what was settled. The data compounds over time.

Guest Feedback
3-QUESTION SURVEY. STAR RATINGS. · LINKED TO BOOKING. PRIVATE TO THE VENUE.
After a month on myTabler, a restaurant can answer questions it has never been able to answer before. What is the average party size on Saturday lunch? Which time slot has the highest no-show rate? What percentage of guests who book through the app return within 60 days? These are not vanity metrics. They are the building blocks of a restaurant that operates with clarity instead of instinct.
A phone call gives you a name and a time. A booking system gives you a business.
